Who are we?
Duen Experience operates an expedition sailing vessel in Northern Norway. Choose from a variety of excursions and expeditions and experience the Arctic in an unrushed way. Leave Tromsø’s harbour and be bound for a skiing adventure in the Lyngen alps. Or set out on a wildlife excursion to seek out epic marine animals.
From May onwards Duen III is based out of the northernmost settlement in the world: Longyearbyen. Get on board in Svalbard and experience a sailing expedition unlike any other.
Duen Experience consists of a dedicated team of three people between the ages of 25-35. They all have experience from various fields within long-distance sailing, tall ships, and motor ships. Guest’s desires are always put in focus as journeys are planned.

Øyvind Nilssen
Meet Øyvind Nilssen, the founder and company leader. Øyvind is dedicated to running a professional ship and being a supportive leader with the resources at his disposal. Drawing from diverse maritime experiences, ranging from cargo vessels to traditional tall ships, he navigates our crew with dedication. On those quiet night watches, he enjoys sharing tales of odd inventions and discussing quirky zombie movies.
Beyond his role as captain and company leader, Øyvind brings a down-to-earth approach, making him not just a leader but a relatable companion on our maritime journey.
David Thornley
Meet David Thornley, the dynamic force in our crew, seamlessly blending skill and heart. His love for climbing and skiing mirrors his fearless approach to challenges. Beyond technical prowess, David's good-hearted nature sets the tone for collaboration, making him the heart of our team. An avid listener, he lends an ear and offers
insightful perspectives. As a good teacher, David shares his expertise, enriching our collective knowledge. As we navigate projects, David's positivity, adept problem-solving, and teaching skills ensure our success.
David Braeuer
Introducing David Braeuer, the vibrant and youthful addition to our dynamic crew from Austria. With a rich background working on various sailing vessels, including a circus sailing ship, David brings a wealth of maritime experience. Beyond his nautical prowess, he's a philosopher at heart, the go-to person for discussions on the deeper subjects of life. David finds joy in sailing, hiking, and yoga, embodying a free spirit that breathes life into our team. His passionfor exploration is matched only by his strong work ethic, making him a valuable and dynamic member of our crew.
Tai Andrew
Meet Tai Andrew, our lively crew member from the land down under. With a heart full of zest for life, Tai is a passionate skydiver and sailor, seizing every moment with contagious enthusiasm. Known for a good spirit, Tai infuses our team with laughter and joy, balancing the high-energy adventures with a love for fun. Despite a penchant for dirty jokes, Tai carries an old soul within, reflecting wisdom beyond years. Tai Andrew, a vibrant presence from the land down under, adds a unique flavor to our crew.
Dai
Meet Dai, a caring and experienced nurse turned sailor. Dai's warm presence brings comfort to our ship. With a mixed heritage of German and Brazilian roots, she adds a unique flavor to our seafaring adventures. Dai's morning routine includes refreshing cold baths, a simple ritual that reflects her resilience and love for life. As our skilled chef, she turns meals into comforting delights, creating a homely atmosphere on board. Dai, a bit of a ship enthusiast, casually shares her knowledge. Occasionally stepping in as a stand-in on Duen III, she brings her nurturing spirit to our journeys.
