Adventure Sailing

Embark on a captivating 7-day journey where you'll not only learn to sail a two-masted ketch but also immerse yourself in the magic of Duen III – a vessel that exudes the unmistakable charm of 'big boat energy.' This voyage isn't about the destination; it's a celebration of the art of sailing and the extraordinary moments that unfold when living aboard a seafaring vessel for an entire week.

Whether you're sailing solo or with a partner, you'll start as strangers and leave as lifelong friends.

The breathtaking landscapes of Northern Norway will be your canvas, painting scenes that range from sandy white beaches to snow-capped alpine mountains, all in pursuit of visiting the most remote and enchanting places.

The whims of weather will guide our journey, and the itinerary I share here is just a glimpse of the adventures that await.

Remember, this itinerary is just a teaser! Our actual adventures are at the mercy of weather and ice – that's the thrill of it!

Day 1

Arrive On Board Duen III

Feel the excitement as you board in Eidskjosen, Kvaløya, Tromsø. Let our seasoned skipper and crew guide you to your cabin, and soon you'll feel right at home. Important safety briefings and an introduction to sailing set the stage. As the day winds down, we leave the marina for a nearby anchorage. Join us in crafting an evening dinner, taking turns in the galley. Post-dinner, we gather to anticipate the weather forecast, connecting over the shared experience.

Day 2

Dive In and Set Sail

For those seeking a burst of energy, start your day with a polar plunge off the vessel's side. After a wholesome breakfast, delve into anchor theory before setting sail. Experience the thrill of hoisting and lowering sails or mastering the helm. It may be overwhelming initially, but we tailor the learning to your pace, pushing the boundaries of your comfort zone. After a day of sailing, we anchor in a secluded bay, enjoying a walk ashore as dinner simmers.

Day 3

Gaining Confidence on the Waves

Lift the dinghy and anchor as we sail on. Confidence builds with every maneuver and sail change. The day unfolds, preparing us for sailing around the clock in different watch teams. Perhaps we'll trace the outer side of Senja, aiming for Hamn, where an evening walk to Sukkertoppen awaits.

Day 4

Whale Watching and Fishing Adventures

Sail between Andøya and Senja, eyes peeled for orcas and minke whales. Fishing for fresh Norwegian cod might be on the agenda, with Captain Dave eager to teach the art of filleting. As the landscape unfolds, keep an eye out for moose and eagles. In the evening, amidst breathtaking views, practice essential knots.

Day 5

Navigational Challenges and Coastal Beauty

Navigate inshore, where vigilance is key amid marine traffic and limited maneuvering space. It's an opportunity to hone your skills in chart navigation against the backdrop of stunning coastlines.

Day 6

Celebrating the Sea

Our last day at sea! Picture this: a rejuvenating hot tub experience after a day of sailing, followed by a heartfelt captain's dinner featuring locally sourced delights. Share your favorite moments, relish the camaraderie, and reflect on the transformative journey.

Day 7

Farewell and New Beginnings

Your final chance for a polar plunge, a grand breakfast, and heartfelt goodbyes as you disembark from the vessel, carrying with you memories of a week that transcended the ordinary. This voyage isn't just about sailing; it's about forging connections, embracing challenges, and creating a tapestry of emotions that will linger for a lifetime.
